Ernest V DeRosa

Ernest “Ernie” DeRosa, 70, passed away peacefully in his home in Whiting, NJ on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Ernie, a man who was everyone’s friend, was born on February 10, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ. He will be remembered as a kind and funny soul for all who loved him. Those who knew him will miss his loving heart, impeccable sense of humor, and of course, his awesome hair. Ernie had many passions in life, including guitar, wood-working, food, and above all, enjoying the company of the good people around him. Ernie, best known by family as “Pa,” dedicated his life to his family, who will always cherish the beautiful memories they have made together.

Ernie was predeceased by his wife and love of his life Frances DeRosa. They are now together on a tropical island somewhere, warm and blue. He is also predeceased by his father Ernest DeRosa Sr., sister Constance DeRosa, and step-children Kimberley Smith and Michael DesRuisseau.

Ernie is survived by his mother Rose DeRosa of Plainfield, NJ, sister and her husband Gabrielle and Michael Aiello of Pocono Lake, PA, Nephew Thomas Aiello of Scotch Plains, Step-children Anita Hergert and Jamie DesRuisseau, grandchildren Paul, Ashley, and Brittany Smith, Robert, Jessica, and Herman "Joey" Hergert, Derek Sonatore, and Courtney DesRuisseau, last but not least his great-grandchildren Kimberley Sanchez and Ethan Neal. He will be truly missed and always remembered.
A memorial service will be held at St. Stevens Episcopal Church, 180 Route 539, Whiting, NJ 08759 on Saturday, December 15th at 11:00am.
