Irene M. Krygowski (aka "Busia"), 95 died peacefully on July31, 2018. The only child of John and Stella Skorek, she was born July 22, 1923. Irene grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and graduated from Bloomfield High School. On September 23, 1945 she married Victor Krygowski and they raised their four children in Bloomfield.
Irene was totally dedicated to her children: Kenneth, John, Karen and Janet. She always made a special effort to attend all of their activities, be it Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, school events, and especially sporting events. Family was always her main priority.
Irene and Victor moved to Waretown in 1979 and became a part of the close knit Skippers Cove community. They were parishioners of St. Pius Church in Forked River.
Irene joined Auxiliary Coast Guard Flotilla 7-12 in 1980 and served actively for 25 years, receiving numerous commendations and citations. She enthusiastically took part in all Flotilla activities from Coastal Navigation to Knot Tying. She and Victor spent many hours on patrol on Barnegat Bay helping other boaters.
She also participated in the Skippers Cove Women's Club (Skipperettes), as well as the various fund raisers with which the Clubhouse was involved.
In addition to her four children, Busia was a special grandmother to Joseph (Valerie), Evan (Meg), Katie (Nick, Sarah (Nick), Lauren (Scott), Brittany, and Samantha (R.J.).
Busia cherished her great grandchildren: Matteo, Emmelyn, Adam, Maya, Gavin, Otis, and Freya. Her entire family is, and will continue to be, missing her very much.
