Joseph Nicolas Marinaro passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Born in Newark, Joe then moved to Jersey City, prior to permanently retiring to Forked River, New Jersey.
Joe was a hardworking, loving, compassionate man. Joe was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served two years in Germany during the Korean War. Joe spent most of his career as an owner and operator of a family candy business in Newark, New Jersey. After a short time being retired, he returned to work at Central Regional High School as a maintenance worker. With a continued commitment to working hard, Joe became a well respected member of the Central Regional staff.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Eileen Barry Marinaro, his parents, Nicolas and Rose Marinaro, as well as his brother Salvatore and his wife Mildred.
He is survived by many family members whom absolutely adored Joe. He is survived by his brother in law, Daniel Barry, his sister in law, Dorothy O’Leary, his nephew Joseph O’Leary and his wife Marion, his nephew Bernard Snyder and his wife Suzanne, his nephew Gerald Snyder and his wife Mary as well as his nephew John Barry Snow and his wife Karen. In addition, he is survived by his nephew Patrick Barry and his wife JoAnne, his niece Margaret, his nephew Robert, his nephew Christopher and his wife Kimberly, his nephew Daniel and his wife Kris. Joe is also survived by many great and grand nieces and nephews that have many fond memories of him as well.
Joe was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Lacey Township Municipal Alliance as well as the Italian American Club. For many years, Joe served as a trustee for the New Lisbon Developmental Center. Without question, Joe will be dearly missed by all his family, friends and church community. In addition, Joe will be missed by all of his buddies from his early morning 7-11 coffee clutch crew. His love for all of the children in the family and his shared interest in a good treat always made him the center of the children at family gatherings.
