Arlan Specht Obituary

On April 23rd, 2022, Arlan Specht passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and in the loving embrace of his wife of 43 years, Dee Specht. Arlan was born June 6th, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA.
Arlan, a loving son, was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Ellen Specht, Short Hills, NJ, his brother-in-law, John Reed, Atlanta, GA and his former wife, the mother of their children, Loretta Scholl, Bowden, Ga.
Arlan had a successful, fulfilling career with JCP&L for 34 years, retiring early so the good life could continue. Golfing, skiing, tennis and swimming rounded out some of his joys. Arlan married Diane Tuchol (Dee) in 1978 and they settled in Bayville in 1985. Traveling was a great pleasure, especially to their favorite destination, the Big Island of Hawaii, where many lasting friendships were formed and cherished. At home, Ortley Beach was the place to go. The "Ortley Circle" consisted of great friends where lazy days of sunning, swimming, sea glass hunting and fishing were the order of the day. "The Circle" grew larger each year as kids, grandkids and added friends joined. Arlan enjoyed hosting family and friends on "Summer Concert Nights" at Veterans Park in Bayville, good times had by all. Go Yankees and go Giants! He was a kind, loving, can be skeptical, respected, funny man who "just had a bar of soap" or the guy who at times "felt like a million bucks, all in loose change!"
Arlan is survived by his wife, Dee, his sister, Barbara Reed, his four children: Barbara Specht (Jeanine), Joan Krall (Jeffrey), Doris Gonzalez (James) , his one and only favorite son, Kenneth Specht, (Stephanie), 13 wonderful grandchildren and 6 precious great grandchildren.
Arlan was a great brother-in-law to Dee's 8 siblings and their spouses as well as a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. Arlan also leaves behind many, many loving friends.
Our miracle man, driven and determined to live life to its fullest, will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him. Arlan will forever live in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Research Children's Hospital, Breast Cancer Awareness (honoring the survival of his wife) or the Charity of your choice
