Eugene "Gene" James Kutcher, Jr., resident of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and Lakewood Ranch, Florida passed away at the age of 71 after a 2 ½ year battle with stomach cancer. He passed on Monday, June 13th, 2022 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ, where he had been surrounded and celebrated by family and friends.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his childhood sweetheart, with whom he just celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary. In addition, he is survived by his four children: Gene (Jen), Bill (Kate), Chrissy (Angel) and Jimmy (Caroline); his eleven grandchildren: Julia, DJ, Brenna, Alaina, Reed, Emilia, Gavin, James, Beau, Camryn and Christian; his sister Eileen (Dana) and brother Bob (Patricia). He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Elizabeth of Rahway, NJ.
After growing up in Rahway, Gene was a graduate of Union Catholic High School (where he started on the basketball team) and Rutgers University (BA, Economics; TKE fraternity). He was a longtime resident of Manalapan, NJ, where he was an active member of the community, coaching many recreation sports teams.
Gene retired in 2012, after a successful career with the Hess Corporation that spanned 37 years. There, he held a variety of roles, most recently Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company's Energy Marketing business.
Gene was a lover of golf, Jimmy Buffet music, Rutgers football, college basketball, telling knock-knock jokes to his grandchildren, boating, hosting parties, sand between his toes, and most importantly his family and friends.
