Frances was born and raised in the “down neck” community of Newark, NJ. She attended and graduated St. Anne Street School and East Side High School. She was a graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Class of ’48 where she received her RN diploma. Her nursing career spans over 30 years. She especially loved working in the ob/gyn practice of Dr. Alice Cunningham as she had a soft spot for the little babies. Along with her husband, they owned and operated the Blue Anchor Motel in Brunswick ME until they relocated to Westchester County NY in 1976. She then worked side by side with her husband in the hospitality industry for the private sector until their retirement in 1993 where they lived in their beloved home at the Jersey Shore in Lanoka Harbor, NJ.
She enjoyed traveling and did many day trips with the Polish Club of Ocean County where her husband was the President and Trip Coordinator. She and Dad loved a good Polka!
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate doctors and nurses in the ICU and Hospice programs at Community Medical Center. We are sincerely grateful for the care given to our Mom during this time.
She was a communicant of St. Pius X RC Church in Forked River, NJ and a member of the Sew and Sews group of the Parish. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations in her memory be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
