Michael Tommasone was born to Joseph and Lillian Tommasone on March 12, 1976 in Carteret, New Jersey.
Michael was truly a joy to everyone who knew him. You couldn’t help but smile the moment you saw him!
Michael was a unique gift. He had autism, a condition that can affect how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world. Through the persistent efforts of his parents, two very strong grandmothers, and the many dedicated New Horizons in Autism employees who cared for him, Michael learned to experience the world in his own very special way.
Michael never walked anywhere. He was always so excited for a new experience so he would run…everywhere! He loved God and had a strong faith. He loved caring for others, music, shopping, any and all water activities—and, of course, partying!
From the backyard pool, to the beach bungalow, to the river house, Michael loved the water. There was something about being near the water that brought him such happiness.
Michael had no trouble communicating. You always knew exactly what he liked—and what he didn’t like! If you needed a little extra cooperation, a bribe of jelly beans, Tic Tacs, or lollipops could go a long way.
Michael approached life with a pure and unadulterated spirit. He had a way of touching the lives of everyone around him, often bringing laughter, energy, and joy wherever he went.
Michael was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
