Richard F. Padalino retired South Orange Police Captain, age 78, of Forked River, New Jersey passed away on July 14, 2022. Richard was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He lived in South Orange, New Jersey and Union, New Jersey before moving to Forked River, New Jersey in 2000. Richard worked as a police officer for South Orange Police Department for 31 years, retiring in 2000 as a Captain. Richard was in charge of the Detective Bureau from 1987 to 1997, during that time he worked on the first car jacking case in New Jersey where the victim was shot. He also worked on the first racial bias case involving the FBI in New Jersey. Richard was a member of PBA local 12 South Orange and was their delegate for 12 years. He was also the chairman of the Essex County Conference from 1979 to 1981. He was also a member of retired officers PBA local 600. Richard enjoyed fishing and playing golf during his retirement. Richard was predeceased by his parents Frank and Dolores Padalino. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Judith, and daughter Stacey Padalino of Manahawkin, New Jersey.
