Robert G Bowers

Robert Bowers, 81, of Forked River, NJ passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, NJ.  Born in Lebanon, PA on September 1, 1939, he lived most of his life in Pennsylvania before moving to New Jersey.  He lived in Mansfield Township, NJ before moving to Forked River in 2021.

Mr. Bowers served his country in the United States Navy.  He enjoyed working and was always a loyal, devoted employee working in industry for 49 years as a director, consultant, and systems analyst in information technology.

Bob was a quiet, gentle man and loving husband.  He was a collector of US presidents’ books, coins, lighthouses, and tools and enjoyed family times, classical music, and traveling.  Visiting US Presidential Libraries, National Parks, and Disney World were favorite destinations in his travels.  In his younger years he was a skilled track athlete and trombone player and enjoyed bowling and playing tennis. 

He is predeceased by his parents Edward and Dorothy (Hull) Bowers and two brothers Edward and Fred.  He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Savage) Bowers; his children Melody Stambaugh and her husband Dick, Michael and his wife Cathy, Bryan and his wife Dalene, Barry and his wife Sue; step-children Kimberly Jackson and her husband Jeff, Lynn Haytaian and her husband Darrell, and Kristen Schott and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Amber, Brandi, Jessica, Rick, Lauren, Tony, Brad, Ross, Gina, Brock, Will, Russell, Jordan, Christopher, Billy, and Jenny; and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 10:00 a.m. at the Waterloo United Methodist Church, Waterloo Village Rd., Stanhope, NJ.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to your favorite charity.
