It is with profound sadness that the family of Thomas A. Mullusky announce his peaceful passing on May 3, 2023 at the age of 83 years.
Tom will be lovingly remembered by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Virginia (Ginny) Mullusky of Lanoka Harbor, NJ. Ginny and Tommy loved traveling together to as many warm places as possible. Some of these included national parks like Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the Grand Canyon; Caribbean islands like St. Maarten; but especially the gulf coast of Florida and Longboat Key where Tom could always be found sitting on the beach.
Tom is also survived and loved by his sister Janet Verschingel of Cypress, TX; daughter, Janine Randolph and her husband Bob Randoph of Manasquan, NJ; daughter, Michele Mullusky of Belcamp, MD; daughter, Christine Chaney of Forked River, NJ; and son, Thomas J. Mullusky and his wife, Mary Granahan of Asbury Park, NJ. Tom was a devoted grandfather and mentor to his grandchildren, Bobby Randolph, Sarah Chaney, James Randolph, and Matt Chaney. They will all miss his support and guidance dearly. Tom is also survived and remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Bertha and Thomas M. Mullusky as well as his sisters Rosemary Finigan, Arlene Spingler, Bette Brown, Norma Spronck, Doris Bennett, and Carole Kostyshyn and his nephew and dear friend, Russell W. Allen.
Tommy grew up on Staten Island, NY where he attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from St. Peter's Boys High School in 1957. He then attended Manhattan College in Yonkers, NY. Tom and Ginny moved to Hazlet, NJ in 1967 and raised their family there before finally enjoying retirement in Lanoka Harbor, NJ in 2002.
Tommy was a union electrician and proud member of IBEW Local 3 and an even prouder friend of Bill W. for 36 years. He enlisted in the US Regular Army in 1961 and honorably served until 1963 in Okinawa, Japan. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Keyport and Lacey, NJ chapters.
Besides being a great dancer, Tom had many hobbies that filled his days with joy. They included rooting for his New York Giants and the New York Yankees, building model trains and ships, seafood, gardening, fantasy sports, and tending to Club M., the nickname affectionately given to Tom and Ginny's pool during the summer months. But more than anything else, Tommy's two favorite hobbies were fixing things and helping others. He never hesitated to offer his nights and weekends to install, build, or fix something for someone he loved. It was just his way.
Thomas A. Mullusky was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, but above all, he was a great man, a legend. A man that is loved and missed dearly by all that knew him.
