Carmen S. Miceli, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
Carmen was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Carmen and his wife, Sandra both graduates of Emerson High School of Union City, NJ lived in North Bergen, NJ, where they raised their two daughters Lisa and Lori. Carmen was a professional fire fighter for the North Bergen Fire Department from 1971 to 1998 retiring as a Battalion Chief.
Carmen honorably served his country during the Vietnam War from 1965-1966 as part of the First Battalion/Seventh Cavalry, fighting in one of the most noted battles of the war, in the Ia Drang Valley from November 14-16, 1965.
For the past 26 years, Carmen and his wife have resided in Forked River. For those who knew Carmen, he will be remembered by his great stories and fun sense of humor.
Carmen was predeceased by his mother, Grace Tufano and father, Joseph Racioppi. Surviving is his wife, Sandra Miceli; children, Lori DeMuro and Lisa Waters with husband Matthew Waters and grandchildren AJ and Erica Waters. He also leaves behind brother, Anthony Racioppi and wife, Kathy Racioppi, sister, Maryanne Miceli and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Layton’s Home for Funerals, Forked River, NJ. Mass will be held on Thursday January 26, 2017, at St. Pius Church in Forked River followed by Military Honors.
